Student Safety

Safety is our first priority.

The safety of our students is Presidential Classroom's foremost concern. We provide a cadre of trained staff for 24 hours a day. Our location on the campus of Georgetown University makes available the university's health clinic and security services. From the moment your daughter or son arrives in Washington until she or he boards the plane or train home, Presidential Classroom students are accompanied by members of our Student Services staff.

Health and medications

Presidential Classroom maintains an on-site infirmary monitored by nurse practitioners. Our Student Services staff is CPR certified and trained in other basic first aid procedures. The conference center is located just moments away from the Georgetown University Hospital should there be an emergency.

Communication

No matter what time of day, parents can reach the Student Services Office (SSO) by calling 202-464-5580. The SSO is staffed by trained Program Assistants who will locate the student, and ensure that he or she receives a message or returns a call.

Travel and Transportation

Presidential Classroom only uses private motor coach on program. On arrival day, Presidential Classroom representatives are stationed at Washington, D.C.'s three airports (Ronald Reagan Washington National, Dulles International, and Baltimore-Washington International), and Union Station. Presidential Classroom representatives wear bright red t-shirts for easy identification on arrival day. They compare arrival information provided by parents to posted arrival times so that no student is left behind. From the airport or train station, students are shuttled by private motor coach transportation directly to registration at the Georgetown University Conference Center. Private motor coach transportation is also used for the duration of the program week and back to the airports and Union Station for departure.

Safeguards are often irksome, but sometimes convenient, and if one needs them at all, one is apt to need them badly.
