Dear: __________
My name is _______________ , and I am currently a (sophomore/junior/senior) at _____________ High School. I am very active in school-related activities, and belong to (list applicable clubs/organizations). I have also given my time to various community organizations, such as (list). I have a cumulative _____ G.P.A.
I now have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to take part in a Presidential Classroom program in Washington, D.C. Presidential Classroom is a civic education and leadership development organization that brings the best and brightest high school students from the United States and abroad to our nations capital to witness the federal government at work and to interact with influential leaders and policy makers.
More than 120,000 PC Scholars have passed through Presidential Classrooms doors since 1968. To the best of my knowledge, no student from my high school has ever attended a Presidential Classroom program. (or XX students from my high school have participated in a Presidential Classroom program.)
In order to participate in this remarkable program, I need to raise a tuition of (cost) for the week. This cost includes hotel accommodations, all meals during the program and all curriculum materials. I would prefer to attend (dates). I am asking you and others who represent community organizations to help me with this cost. May I count on your organization for a donation of (dollar amount)? Presidential Classroom is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and donations may be tax-deductible.
Participation in Presidential Classroom is an invaluable experience. I will come away with firsthand knowledge of the political process, a new perspective on issues facing our country, and friendships that will last a lifetime. I will gratefully share the knowledge I gain through my participation with the community. I would like to be the first Presidential Classroom student from ____________ High School. (Or I would like to continue my high schools tradition of participating in Presidential Classroom.) I will represent the community with dignity and make your organization proud. If you have any questions, please feel free to call me. I would also be happy to meet with you at your convenience. Thank you in advance for any help you might be able to offer.
