Energy Technology (ET) is rapidly becoming the new Information Technology (IT). Energy technology is one of the most important and exciting sciences in today's world. New technologies are needed to find and extract fossil fuels, replace fossil fuels with alternatives, and address climate and environmental concerns.
This program will examine one of the most complex tasks faced by today's scientists, policy makers and energy businesses. What is their plan to meet increasing demand for oil and natural gas to fuel the world's economies while at the same time developing alternative energies that deal with economic and environmental issues?
Hear from experts who are on the front lines of this exciting new field; scientists, policy makers, activists and energy company representatives. Learn about the latest developments. Learn about green buildings, windmills, nuclear power and bio-fuels. See how some of the world's largest companies are utilizing green technology and learn what you can do as an individual and as an active citizen. Discuss whether government or private industry should take the lead in the development of energy technology. Join the debate on climate change. Is it caused by human production of greenhouse gasses or part of the earth natural cycle and what can be done to address it? You will role play scientists and policy makers utilizing research to propose solutions to try to persuade your peers.
