2009 Internship Application

Carefully selected from colleges and universities from around the world, Presidential Classroom Interns gain valuable work experience in a fast-paced and challenging environment, one that puts them in direct contact with students, volunteer instructors and dynamic speakers in the epicenter of American politics, Washington, D.C. Responsibilities include managing the Student Services Office, facilitating the logistics of the program, managing seminars and introducing speakers, among other duties. The position is challenging with hours and experiences beyond the typical nine-to-five workday.

At Presidential Classroom, students from the United States and abroad examine the federal government beyond the marble buildings. During each weeklong program, participants interact with members of Congress, senior military officials, Washington insiders and journalists. They observe the Congress in action, visit well-known sites and debate key issues with their peers. Your job is to make these weeks happen. You will help create the experience not only for the students, but for yourself as an individual.

No other internships I have had in my college career challenged me intellectually, personally, and professionally like Presidential Classroom did. It was truly a summer to remember and I know that what I learned will stay with me as I start my own career someday.
